 SG:TNG Leadership Changes
Posted by Jeff Chan - 08-14-09 23:49 - 8 comments
Alright, as I'm sure you all have seen, there's some interesting things that have gone on at SG:TNG lately. Obviously activity is lower than optimal, and simming goes on as usual, but we the MAJCOM staff have been at work behind the scenes.

Obviously everyone's noticed by now that Colonel Mjolnir and Captain Walker have gotten some changes to their rank images... and we promised that we would tell you all everything that's going on by August 15th- so that's today. VJ Day. A new day.

On a personal level, you've probably noticed that I, Major General Jeff Chan, have been a lot less active than I have been before around here. The truth of the matter is that real-life issues are catching up to me, and I need to constantly reallocate my temporal resources in order to accommodate SG:TNG.

It's quite difficult to juggle so many things at once, and real-life issues are seriously diverting my attention and spirit away from SG:TNG. We on the MAJCOM staff have always asked our members for unwavering devotion and continuing commitment- and many of you have exceeded that standard.

Now, with more things piling up on me at least for the next year or so, it is only prudent that I take a break to let someone who can dedicate their all to SG:TNG. As the truth is that I will no longer be able to lead by example in the aforementioned standard of dedication and support, it only makes sense that I bestow the responsibility of leadership upon those who can.

Thus, in short, I will be taking leave as the Provisional Commanding Officer of SG:TNG for at least the next year due to those real-life issues that I previously described.

To replace General Yu (who will essentially be only a non-posting figurehead) and me on the MAJCOM Command Staff, three members have been selected to be the Acting CO, XO, and Chief of Staff.

They are:
MAJCOM ACTING COMMANDING OFFICER: Brevet Brigadier General Asid Mjolnir
MAJCOM ACTING EXECUTIVE OFFICER: Brevet Lieutenant Colonel Jason Walker
MAJCOM ACTING CHIEF OF STAFF: Major Robert Thomson

First of all, let us thank these members for stepping up to the plate during this pivotal moment in our simm's life and grasping that torch that burns with the flame of service and leadership. These three members will be your leaders for the coming months- and I entrust them to carry on the high standard the SG:TNG has always stood for.

As of this post, this moment, they are in charge. As much as I like to answer your PMs and play around with our admin controls, they have inherited that responsibility now. I know that each and every one of you will treat these new leaders with as much respect (*big smile*) that you have treated me.

Note that these positions are ACTING positions. There is still the possibility that I will return after one year is up, as much as seems awkward to do so after a long absence.
Brevet Brig. Gen. Mjolnir and Brevet Lt. Col. Walker have been given BREVET, or provisional promotions to these higher ranks in order to better execute their duties as part of this effort.
On the occasion that I will not return, these promotions will be formalized.

General Mjolnir and Lieutenant Colonel Walker may choose to embody these promotions in either both administrative and in-character contexts, or simply use them in administrative situations. Either way, the authority that they embody will be where the buck stops- so there will be no coup throwing.

As for myself, I will still stick in a limited fashion as an adviser, and I will be in the loop for most major issues. If anyone needs my advice on anything major, please contact me, and I should be able to help you.

I realize that this whole affair may be largely confusing for many of you, and I can understand that. As a result, I have taken the liberty to create a summarized version of this whole big brain-fart of text below for your easy reading.I will also be around for a few days to both answer any and all questions you may have regarding this change, as well as to wrap up loose in-character ends. General Mjolnir and the rest of the new Acting MAJCOM staff will also be available to assist you as well, for they are in charge now.

To sign off for the last time in a while, I'd just like to thank you all as I have so many times before for making SG:TNG into the greatest simm that I have been a member of. Everything has ups, downs, self-destruction, and other tidbits of life's event hodgepodge- but there is one constant: change. There will be many a fall when a maple leaf sheds its leaves, leaving a beautiful cornucopia of debris beneath its now desolate branches. In spite of this ephemeral emptiness, the tree will grow taller and greener once spring comes. And change will have occurred.
Now is the time when we are shedding our leaves, ready to return revitalized, re-energized, and ready to make this community into a greater place.

Thank you, and good luck in your pursuits for the next year.

Major General Jeff Chan
Outgoing SG:TNG Provisional Commanding Officer
August 15, 2009

SUMMARIZED MESSAGE

Due to real-life issues, General Chan will be taking a one year leave from SG:TNG.

Asid Mjolnir has been given a provisional promotion to Brevet Brigadier General to become the new Acting MAJCOM CO.

Joining Mjolnir on the new Acting MAJCOM Staff will be:
-Brevet Lieutenant Colonel Jason Walker, Acting MAJCOM XO
-Major Robert Thomson, Acting MAJCOM Chief of Staff

As of today, August 15, 2009, this new Acting MAJCOM Staff is in charge of SG:TNG.

Because this affair may be a bit confusing to some of us, General Mjolnir, General Chan, and the rest of the MAJCOM Staff are willing to answer any questions you may have or listen to any of your concerns.

General Chan would like to thank the SG:TNG member base for their continued support, and wishes them luck in all future pursuits.

PS: The post date apparently says that it's August 14th. Believe me, it's August 15th wherever all of us are when I'm posting this.

 Advertising Regulation-REMINDER
Posted by Allen Yu - 08-14-08 18:17 - 10 comments
I would like to remind everyone of this important little fact.

DO NOT ADVERTISE IN SGTNG FORUMS WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH MYSELF OR GENERAL CHAN FIRST! We will need a copy of each advertisement you intend to use and where you intend to post it within 24 hours of when you intend to post it.

IN ADDITION. THERE SHALL BE NO RECRUITING FOR ANY OTHER SIMM VIA PRIVATE MESSAGING.

We keep private message logs regarding the private message advertising. If you are caught doing this, if the MAJCOM feels nice we'll just give you a warning. However, if you are a repeat offender (and we will keep records) YOU WILL BE COURT-MARTIALED. This is a serious matter.

I know I sound very stern and mean, but this is something that the MAJCOM Staff unanimously agrees is bad. It's not that we don't support our members starting up their own simms by being inspired by SGTNG's greatness, however please consult us first before advertising
.

 Constitution
Posted by Jeff Chan - 07-11-08 01:13 - 19 comments
I thought I'd post our constitution here for everyone's reference. After all, I don't exactly feel like digging through our Communique forum to find it whenever someone needs it.

QUOTE

The attached files are the newly ratified SGTNG constitution.

What this basically does, is it defines specifically what each person in SGTNG does in their leadership position and defines specifically our Chain of Command. Also, it establishes the judicial authority of the JAG.

Some key things to make note of:
1. The old points system is now abolished on the MAJCOM-level. Simm COs are still welcome to continue to use it, but it is not required.
2. Simm COs have full authority to promote members up to the rank of Major or equivalent O-4.
3. Division COs have full authority to promote members up to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent O-5.
4. An office of the Chief of Staff is established
; we will decide on the MAJCOM CoS soon.

Any questions? Post them here!

Somewhat belated, but still here.

Let us all take a moment to pause and give thanks to our veterans, as well as to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We will always remember.

 MAJCOM Staff
Posted by Asid Mjolnir - 10-30-09 22:18 - 18 comments
As of now, 23:12 PM, 10/30/2009, I am declaring most of our staff inactive, having recieved resignations from Bri'to, and Panzer von Reichter. Also having not seen Stephanie Tang/Allen in the better part of half a year, minimum, I am deciding to replace them.

We are in need of a new...
  • Graphics Manager
  • Public Relations Manager
  • I.T. Manager
  • Training Commandant
  • Canon Director
  • And a whole ton of other misc jobs.

Current, our Graphics Manager slot is shared between Nolan/Rosa Etearna & Robert Thomson/Carson Tenant/etc, while our I.T. Manager, Canon Director I have handled, so far. To this point, Robert Thomson has held P.R. director, however, I am in need of knowing who wishes to step up and take these jobs off their hands, should they chose to, or to fill the empty positions. Anyone willing to take up these jobs, please step up!

 Site Reforms
Posted by Asid Mjolnir - 10-12-09 17:15 - 3 comments
As some of you may or may not have noticed, the site is undergoing some minor changes over the past few days, and is expected to undergo some more changes.

Some of these are the addition of a "Retired Crew" section for the Personnel Files, as well as (hopefully) getting banners for more of the sections of the sims, such as the briefing rooms, and Atlantis' reporting in office.

The changes to be made within the next few minutes are the addition of banners for the resignation, leave of absence, and bio areas.

 Back...Kinda. And a new website
Posted by Allen Yu - 03-18-09 15:30 - 5 comments
So, as you all know (hopefully), my LOA was due to end on March 16th. Then, a few new issues arose, so I'm still on semi-LOA status. I'll be posting occasionally but it may be sporadic depending on what happens RL.

However, the good news is that myself and General Chan have been working on a new website! It (should) be fully functional at this point. If there are any bugs, please PM either myself or General Chan so that we can fix it.

The new website is located at http://www.joinsgtng.co.cc

If you still wanted to visit the old website, don't fret! It's at the same location, http://sgtng.shori.us - we are going to be using this as our backend server for hosting simulation sites and graphics, in addition to a document library that will be uplaoded later. For the document library we will most likely go with a third-party application instead of coding an SGTNG-specific one, to make the development cycle quicker and more streamlined.

Now, I hear that General Chan implemented some competitions while I was gone -- GO PARTICIPATE! (:

Regards,
Gen. Yu

 Competitions!
Posted by Jeff Chan - 03-16-09 18:52 - 31 comments
Hello SG:TNG Members!

We might've been sitting idly for a while, but now, it's time to get moving!

So...on behalf of the whole MAJCOM Staff, I hereby introduce our SG:TNG Spring Competitions!

What are these competitions, you might ask?
Well, they're essentially awards- but obviously you're going to have to work for them. Your work will earn you rewards too, as details will be disclosed further on. These competitions will last from now until April 24th, so hurry!

Here are the individual member competitions:

1.)Best Overall Member
Basically, be a great member, and you are in line to get this award! Be uber-active, contribute great posts, help out the MAJCOM, and stand out.
PRIZE: You'll be given a free rank promotion for any character you choose!*

2.)Highest Post Amount
This is determined by the individual who has the most In-Character posts. It's the easiest one to win, so get posting!
PRIZE: Same as the first. You'll be given a free rank promotion for any character you choose!*

3.)Best Recruiter
This is the most honorable competition to win. If you recruit at least 2 active** members, you're entitled to be nominated for this award. The individual who recruits the most wins the award.
PRIZE: Free rank promotion or favorable position assignment. What's more is that if you recruit 9 or more active** members, you'll be eligible to COMMAND YOUR OWN SIMM.

Even if you don't win a competition, do not despair- runner-ups will be eligible for additional prizes to be revealed once this competition ends.

Wait... there's more...

Best Simm Award
This is awarded to the best simm, whether in Starfleet or HQ. Simm COs, get cracking!
The prize for this award will be a big surprise!

Rules and Regulations
1.) Don't Cheat!
2.) The MAJCOM CO and XO have the final say on competition specifics.
3.) *Promotions are only for characters below O-4, a matching prize will be offered otherwise
4.) **Active is defined as making at least 15 posts and staying for more than 2 weeks
5.) Compete, darn it!
6.) The competition ends on April 24th, 2009 MAY 2ND, 2009

Yes. The competition ends on APRIL 24th.

4.18.2009 UPDATE: THE COMPETITION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MAY 2ND! COMPETE!

So... what are you waiting for?
GO COMPETE, FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!

 Provisional Command Structure Changes
Posted by Jeff Chan - 02-23-09 18:45 - 15 comments
Some of you may have noticed the fact that General Yu hasn't exactly been around here for a little while, and now he's taken the effort to inform me that he'll be on an Extended LOA at least until mid-March.

This being said, some re-shuffling, at least provisionally, of our command structure will take place while General Yu is away.

During this period of time, I will be instated as Provisional Commanding Officer of SG:TNG, with Colonel Asid Mjolnir ascending to the position of Provisional Executive Officer of SG:TNG.

Please go up the chain of command as you usually would, since the structure is still functionally intact.

Let's continue SG:TNG's greatness (tad bit presumptuous, but whatever) even as General Yu conveniently slips away, so POST OFTEN, EVERYONE!

-Major General Jeff Chan
Now the Provisional CO of SG:TNG
<No, this is not a coup>

 Accounts
Posted by Allen Yu - 01-6-09 15:50 - 19 comments
Gah. I hate writing these policy reminder news posts, but yeah. Sometimes they are nessecary.

Please, please, please post on whichever account your character is. This may be annoying and all to log in and logout, but there are reasons:
  • People get confused with who's posting
  • Sigs get large if people only use one account for multiple characters (crowdedness)
  • MAJCOM will have difficulty with finding who posted how much for awards

If you really have an issue with logging in and out, take advantage of the fact that this board is cross-browser compatible. If you have Firefox and IE, you can login to one account on each (it'll work). If you have three, just install Opera. Netscape for four. Flock for five. You get the idea.

Again, we don't want to make any trouble for anyone, and a post once in a while on the wrong account is OK (people get confused, it's not a problem). But generally, stick to the multiple accounts thing. After all, me and General Chan have to go through it as well, and we wouldn't ask you of anything we wouldn't do ourselves.

Thanks,
SGTNG MAJCOM

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish a belated Happy New Year to everyone.
May 2009 be more prosperous than 2008, and hopefully we won't go into a deeper recession.
